I got a last-minute assignment recently to go shoot a middle school pep rally. Sounds really exciting right? To my surprise, not only was the pep rally a lot of fun, but Super Bowl Champion Justin Tucker was there to speak to the kids. I got about 15 minutes with him and came out with this portrait. I like it.
I like to use classic AI Nikon lenses adapted to my Canon 5Ds. I had a Nikon 50mm 1.4 strapped to my 5d Mark II. The lighting wasn’t too terrible. The overhead lights were throwing some weird color casts, but overall the image looks pretty good once I got it in black and white. Next time I get a gig like this I’m bringing a little mini soft box for my speedlite.
